One of my first favorite recipes. Growing up in elementary school, I pretty much made this Grade School Brownies recipe for my family every single weekend.

Grade School Brownies

1 1/3 c. flour

2/3 c. cocoa powder

1 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. salt

2 c. dark brown sugar, firmly packed

4 large eggs

2/3 c. vegetable oil

2 tsp. vanilla extract

1 c. walnuts, chopped, optional

Garnish: confectioner’s sugar

 


Cooking Process:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Generously grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan. On parchment paper; sift together dry ingredients. In a mixing bowl; combine sugar and eggs well. Stir in oil and extract. Add dry ingredients and nuts. Transfer into prepared pan. Bake 35 minutes until cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean. For service: cut into squares and dust with confectioner’s sugar. Serves 12.
