Iced Afternoon Milk Tea

Ever since the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, the bottles of Kirin milk tea have not been available in the import stores.  And even when it was available, it was a little pricey to drink all the time.  I tried to duplicate it and this is what I came up with.

Iced Afternoon Milk Tea

4 Tbsp loose black tea

1/2 heaping cup sugar

1/3 cup evaporated milk OR 1/4 cup dry powdered milk

Water to make 2 quarts


Cooking Process:

Steep loose tea leaves in 2 cups of boiling water for 10 minutes.  Remove tea leaves and add sugar to the hot tea.

Add the evaporated milk.  If using dry powdered milk, mix with tap water before adding to tea.

Add enough water to make 2 quarts and refrigerate.

Note: Loose tea leaves make a stronger tea taste than tea bags.
