Brazilian Iced Chocolate Coffee
A co-worker brought this Brazilian Iced Chocolate Coffee to our “everything chocolate day.” Deliciously decadent, it was a fabulous treat. She said the traditional Brazilian style would be served with a splash of rum.
4 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate
½ c. sugar
2 c. strong double strength hot coffee
5 c. room temperature milk
3 c. chilled cola
ice cubes as needed
vanilla ice cream (optional)
In a double boiler over hot water; melt chocolate. Stir in sugar. Gradually stir in hot coffee. Mix thoroughly. Add milk. Continue stirring until chocolate is completely dissolved. Cook 10 minutes or until mixture is smooth. Remove from heat; transfer into large container. Chill thoroughly. For service: Add chilled cola into mixture. Pour over ice cubes. Optional to top with scoop of vanilla ice cream. Serves 5-6.
