Taro Char Siu Spring Rolls
Taro Char Siu Spring Rolls are absolutely out of this world !! I urge everyone to try this recipes...it makes the perfect pupu for new years!
1 lb of taro, steamed and cut into small cubes
1 lb char siu diced
2 tbs of starch mixed with 2 tbs of water
1 tsp of oyster sauce
pinch of salt
pinch of white pepper
1 egg beaten for sealing spring roll wrapper
1 pkt of spring roll wrapper
1 tbs of dark brown Aloha shoyu
vegetable oil for frying.
In a wok, add 2 tbs of vegetable oil. Add chopped garlic and saute till light brown. Add meat and stir fry for 1 min. Add oyster sauce, soy sauce, salt, pepper. Add taro cubes and mix well. Remove from wok and let filling cool before wrapping.
Put 2 tablesspoons of filling on one side of wrapper, roll once, fold both ends inward, and complete rolling to end of wrapper. At end of wrapper, put egg wash and seal wrapper.
Optional: To give the spring rolls a fancier look dip both ends of the egg roll in egg wash, then roll in sesame seeds. This will give your springroll a fancier, festive look.
