We were thrilled to have several mochi desserts for our New Year’s Day celebration with the family.This is one that my older sister Jalna made for us.

 1 c. semi sweet chocolate chips

½ c. butter.

2 c. mochiko (glutinous rice flour)

2 c. sugar

1 TB baking soda

2 ( 12 oz.) cans evaporated milk

2 tsp. vanilla extract

2 large eggs, beaten

Cooking Process:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. In a small saucepan over medium low heat; melt chocolate chips and butter. Remove from heat; cool completely. In a mixing bowl; combine mochiko, sugar and baking soda well. Into a separate mixing bowl; transfer chocolate mixture. Stir in milk, vanilla extract and beaten eggs.Blend well to combine, Stir in mochiko mixture. Spoon mixture into prepared pan. Bake 45-50 minutes. For a more cake like consistency, bake for 55 minutes. Cut with a plastic knife. Serves 12-14.
