Seared Ahi with Spicy Ginger Dipping Sauce
This Seared Ahi with Spicy Ginger Dipping Sauce appetizer was once all the craze, seen on every restaurant menu. It still remains a favorite of mine, for it’s pure simplicity. Served along-side a mixed green salad and some locally grown tomato slices, it makes a wonderful meal.
1 (4 oz.) block ahi grade sashimi
favorite seasoning salt (lemon pepper, season all)
2 c. mixed mesclun greens
1 large locally grown tomato, thinly sliced
garnish: chopped green onions
1/4 c. Aloha shoyu
3 TB rice wine vinegar
1 TB mirin
1 TB fresh ginger, chopped
1 tsp. Sriracha
2 drops toasted sesame oil
In a mixing bowl; combine sauce ingredients well. In a shallow dish, place seasoning. Roll ahi in seasoning and coat as desired. In a skillet over medium high heat; dry sear ahi on all sides. For service; slice and arrange ahi onto platters with mixed greens and sliced tomatoes. Drizzle with sauce and garnish with green onions as desired. Serves 2.
