Samoan Style Poke
My family are huge fans of spicy foods. Tasting this dish took me by surprise, but I loved it. Shared by a native from Samoa, she called this their version of “poke.” The leftovers are great fried !
1 lb. aku filet, cubed
¼ c. white vinegar
¼ c. Aloha shoyu
2TB-4 TB Chinese yellow mustard, as desired
1 small Maui onion, thinly sliced
Juice of 1 lemon
Ice cubes, as needed
In a mixing bowl; combine vinegar, soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of mustard and onion. Toss well to combine. Taste for seasoning, adding more mustard as needed. Add fish cubes. Toss to coat fish with mixture. Drizzle with lemon juice. For service; add ice cubes as needed. Optional to fry leftovers. Serves 6-8.
