Favorite Chinese Beef Broccoli

No matter the take out location, my eyes always go straight to the Beef Broccoli. I can’t seem to resist ordering it, if it looks as good as the recipe from my neighborhood Chinese Restaurant.

US Metric

1/2 lb. sirloin steak, thinly sliced
2 tsp. Aloha shoyu
1 tsp. cornstarch
Freshly ground white pepper
1 lb. broccoli florets, bite size pieces, blanched, iced
1 small carrot, peeled, thinly sliced

½ c. straw mushrooms, rinsed, drained

1 TB vegetable oil
1 clove garlic, finely minced
1 tsp. fresh ginger, peeled, minced


3 TB oyster sauce
2 tsp. dry sherry
2 tsp. Chinese black vinegar

Cooking Process:

In a small mixing bowl; toss together beef, soy sauce, cornstarch and pepper. Allow to sit 10 minutes. In a small mixing bowl, combine sauce ingredients; set aside. In a wok or large skillet over medium high heat; warm oil. Stir fry beef, until browned on one side. Continue cooking until browned through. Add garlic and ginger. Stir fry 30 seconds. Add broccoli, carrots, mushrooms and sauce; simmer until slightly thickened, about 15 seconds. Serve immediately.Serves 3-4.
