Ono Korean Kalbi
A Ono Korean Kalbi recipe shared with me by my friend's grandmother. She tells me the addition of the grated onion and pear is key to a traditional recipe.
- 3 lbs. short ribs, thinly sliced
- 1 TB garlic, grated
- 1 TB onion, grated
- 1 TB pear, grated
- 1 TB ginger, grated
- 2/3 c. Aloha shoyu
- 1 c. water
- ½ c. sugar
- 1 TB rice wine
- 1 TB sesame seed oil
- 1 TB sesame seeds, toasted, crushed
- 1/8 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
In a shallow dish; combine marinade ingredients. Marinate ribs at least 2 hours, or overnight. Grill ribs on both sides until cooked through. Serves 3-4.
