Festive Pan-Style Sushi

I love creating fun and new ways to make and showcase sushi.  This is a very easy to make pan-style sushi with out the hassle of trying to roll your own.  Get creative with the toppings...I used leftover holiday ham for this one.

  • 6 cups cooked rice
  • 2 2.6 ounce packets sushi seasoning
  • Seasoned Korean Nori, cut into strips
  • 2 Cups leftover holiday ham, chopped 
  • leftover holiday ham, cut into thin slices
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

Cooking Process:

Mix hot rice with 2 packets of sushi seasoning.  Get a 9x11 ceramic or glass pan and layer with broken and cut strips of nori/seaweed.  The more random, the better.  Place a layer of seasoned sushi rice into the pan and press firmly into the pan using plastic wrap. Next, mix chopped ham and mayonnaise in a bowl, mix well and pour over sushi rice mixture (use more mayonnaise if you prefer.  You can use anything you want for the top layer.  Cover and allow to set in refrigerator for 1 hour.  Slice and arrange on platter just before serving or leave in the pan.  I like to place a thin slice of ham on top of the chopped ham side for presentation, but its not necessary.
