Triple Treat is a 3-layered dessert starting with a buttery, sweet, crunchy crust, topped with a rich cheese cake filling, then topped with a rich chocolate pudding layer. I've been making this dessert since 1979 and included it in our Christmas dinner this year.
- 5 cups rice chex cereal crushed to equal 2 cups
- 1/3 packed brown sugar
- 6 Tablespoons butter, melted
Cream Cheese Filling
- 8oz block cream cheese
- 9oz container Cool Whip (non dairy topping)
- 1/2 cup sifted confectioners sugar
- 1.5 cups milk
- 4.5 oz box instant chocolate pudding
- 8oz container sour cream
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Preheat ove to 300 degrees. Butter bottom of 13x9x2" baking pan. Prepare crust by combining cereal crumbs and brown sugar. Add melted butter and mix thoroughly. Press mixture evenly in bottom of pan. Bake 10 minutes and cool. Crust will harden after baking and cooling.
Beat cream cheese, cool whip and confectioners sugar using rubber spatula or spoon. Spread evenly over cooled crust. Place in refrigerator while preparing chocolate topping.
In medium bowl, combine milk and pudding mix. Beat slowly with electric mixer for 1 minute. Add sour cream and mix only until blended. Spread evenly over cream cheese filling. Top with pecans.
Chill for at least 2 hours or until set. Makes 12 servings. Enjoy!
