Augie T's Corned Beef & Cabbage
I am sharing with you, some of the simple comfort foods that we ate growing up in Kalihi. Even though we didn't have a lot of money growing up, our families created hearty, nourishing meals that we still eat and cherish till today. Corned beef and cabbage is a classic local-Hawaii dish! - 1 can corned beef (samoan kine if possible)
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon Aloha shoyu soy sauce
- salt & pepper to taste
Heat saute pan and add corned beef. In the video, I cooked the cabbage in a separate pan to speed up cooking but, once the fat in the corned beef starts to melt, you can add the chopped cabbage to the corned beef. Stir and cook for about 10 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, shoyu and oyster sauce. Cook for a few more minutes until the cabbage is cooked, but still has a little bit of crunch left.
