Layered Pan Manju

- 5 c. all purpose flour
- 2 c. butter, softened
- ½ c. sugar
- ½ tsp. salt
- ¾ c. sweetened condensed milk
- 1 (18 oz) can koshian (Japanese smooth bean paste)
- 1 (18 oz.) can tsubushian (Japanese azuki bean paste)
- 1 large egg
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking pan. In a mixing bowl; cream together butter and sugar. Add milk and salt. Stir in flour; mix well. Spread half of dough in prepared pan. In a mixing bowl; combine remaining ingredients. Spread onto dough. Top with remaining dough. Pat down gently. Brush with egg . Bake 40-45 minutes until golden brown.
Cool completely before cutting into 24-32 squares.
