Mom's Chicken Cordon Bleu Recipe

A no-fuss version of chicken cordon bleu with a rich  white sauce, perfect over rice!

US Metric
  • 6 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 3 slices ham, cut in half
  • 3 slices swiss cheese, cut in half
  • Flour
  • Bread crumbs
  • Eggs

Sauce

  • 1/2 block butter (tablespoons)
  • 4 Tablespoons flour
  • 2 Tablespoons white wine
  • 1 Tablespoon chicken granules
  • 1 cup milk
  • salt and pepper to taste

Cooking Process:

Place one slice of  ham and cheese in middle of chicken.  Roll and hold in place with skewer or toothpick.  Flour lightly and dip into beaten eggs, then bread crumbs.  Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes or until done.  Cover pan while baking.

Sauce

In saucepan, melt butter and slowly add flour.  Cook until a rue forms.  Slowly add milk, white wine, chicken granules, salt and pepper to taste.  Stir/whisk constantly until desired consistency is achieved.
