Broiled Sushi

Broiled sushi is a great party appetizer and is easy to make for those of you that don't want to spend your time rolling sushi. Place the rice and toppings in a pan, broil and serve!  Your guests simply scoop the rice into a piece of nori (seaweed) and eat!

  • 10 dried shiitake mushrooms
  • 1/4 pound imitation or canned crabmeat, shredded
  • 1/4 pound cooked bay shrimp
  • 1/4 pound cooked scallops, chopped
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 cups cooked rice
  • 1/4 cup nori furikake (Japanese seasoned seaweed mix)
  • Korean Nori

Cooking Process:

oak mushrooms in water until soft; squeeze out excess water, then chop caps.  In a mixing bowl, combine mushrooms, crabmeat, shrimp, scallops, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Place cooked rice in a 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan; sprinkle furikake over rice. Top with the crabmeat mixture. Broil for 8 to 10 minutes, or until browned. Spoon into Korean nori and serve. Makes 12 servings.
