You will prepare this recipe over and over again. It’s great to have this delicious chicken on hand to add to your noodle or mixed green salads, soups, casserole dishes or pasta. The uses are endless.
3 ½ - 4 lbs. whole fryer ½ c. Aloha shoyu 1/3 c. each sugar, balsamic vinegar 2 TB fresh ginger 3 cloves garlic, mashed juice of 1 orange ½ orange peel 2 star anise seeds 3-inch cinnamon stick pinch red pepper flakes 4 c. water, as needed
In a saucepan wide enough for chicken; place all ingredients. Cover chicken completely with water. Over medium heat; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; turn chicken over. Simmer 30 minutes. Drain; shred or cube as needed. Makes 2 ½ cups.
