  • 4 13 oz cans coconut milk
  • 5 cups water
  • 2 1/2 cups corn starch
  • pinch salt

Kulolo (I used  store-bought kulolo to save time)

  • 1 large taro root, grated
  • 3 coconuts, grated
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups coconut water
  • 2 tsp brown sugar

Cooking Process:



In a large sauce pan combine all ingredients (except Kulolo) and mix well until there are no lumps. Place on medium heat and stir constantly for about 20 minutes.  Take Haupia mixture and pour over cooked and cooled kulolo. Let chill for 2 hours before cutting and serving.


Mix taro with coconut meat. Add water, coconut water, and brown sugar. Put in baking pan. Top with butter. Bake 1 hour in moderate oven (350 degrees for most).
