Kahuku-Style Garlic Shrimp
Kahuku-Style Garlic Shrimp - The north shore in Hawaii is famous for its huge waves and huge flavor found in the garlic shrimp at various restaurants and food trucks around town.
- 1 1/2 Lbs. large shrimp, cleaned, deveined
- 12 Cloves of garlic, chopped
- 3/4 cup wondra flour
- salt/pepper to taste
- splash Aloha shoyu
- splash fish sauce
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 stick butter
- Lemon slices
Peel, clean and rinse shrimp and gently pat dry with paper towels. Season shrimp with salt, pepper, soy sauce, fish sauce and cayenne pepper and allow to marinate for 1/2 hour.
Pour wondra flour and shrimp in plastic or paper bag and shake until shrimp are lightly dusted.
Heat butter in pan on med high heat and cook shrimp for a few minutes, then add garlic and turn shrimp over and cook for few more minutes (just enough to cook about 6 minutes total). Serve shrimp with sauce poured on top with a few fresh lemon wedges.
