Shoyu Chicken by Musician Sean Na'auao
Sean Na'auao is a slack key guitarist and vocalist, composer and producer and has won Hawaii's prestigious N? H?k? Hanohano Awards multiple times including Island Contemporary Album of the Year for his popular “Fish and Poi.” He is and is one of the original members of the Mana’o Company.
A local boy who has a large library of island and reggae music and of course the traditional Hawaiian mele. Recognized for his exceptional vocal ability, Sean is a mainstay in the Hawaii music scene. We are excited to have had him in the Cooking Hawaiian Style kitchen sharing his rendition of shoyu chicken.
3 lbs. chicken wings or drumettes
1 c. Aloha shoyu
1 c. Brown sugar
1 thumb of ginger
1 can Passion orange Juice (Hawaiian Sun)
In a large saucepan over medium high heat; mix soy sauce, sugar and juice. Bring to a rapid boil. Add chicken. Reduce heat; simmer 35- 40 minutes until chicken is cooked through. Optional to add crushed garlic and ginger. Serves 3-4.
