Ahi Rice Balls w/Creamy Spicy Mayo Sauce

Ahi rice balls make the perfect appetizer using fresh ahi wrapped with sushi rice to form a rice ball, coated with panko, flash fried and drizzled with a creamy spicy sauce!!

Ahi Rice Balls

  • 4 cups cooked sushi rice
  • 1 Packet sushi rice seasoning
  • 8 oz. sushi grade tuna
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons Aloha shoyu
  • panko bread crumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • oil for frying
  • green onion, sliced for garnish


  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sriracha hot sauce
  • squeeze lemon juice
  • splash Aloha shoyu

Cooking Process:

Rice Balls

Mix hot cooked rice and sushi rice seasoning in a bowl.  Do not overmix.  Cut raw tuna into 1" cubes, place in a different bowl and season with sesame oil, soy sauce.  Take plastic wrap in palm of hand, place seasoned rice, piece of tuna, then more rice and press firmly to create a tight ball using the plastic wrap.  Once ball is formed, roll in panko, then egg, then panko again.  Once all of the rice balls are formed, heat oil to 350 degrees and flash fry until the panko is golden and crispy.  


Mix ingredients in bowl, set aside until ready to use.

how to serve:


Place cooked rice balls on platter, drizzle with spicy mayo amd garnish with green onion.
