Baked Taro Chips

Taro chips are so delicious as a snack or to dress up a main dish or appetizer.  In this recipe, I bake them to preserve the delicate taro flavor, but you can opt to deep fry these as well!

US Metric

One large taro, peeled and sliced
1/2 teaspoon salt substitute
1 tablespoon canola oil

Cooking Process:

1.Pre-heat oven to 400° F.
2.Wash, peel, and slice taro root into quarter-inch thick slices.
3.Brush olive oil on each side of taro slices.
4.Place each chip (separately arranged) on a non-stick one to two-inch deep cookie sheet.
5.Lightly sprinkle salt on taro chips. Bake for 10 minutes on each side or until golden crisp.

Serves: 2 to 3

** You can deep fry these as well, but I prefer to bake them as they are healthier and it also preserves the delicate taro flavor.
