Calamari Marinara

A quick and easy dish to prepare to serve as an appetizer or serve on a bed of pasta for an entrée. Tender rings of calamari simmered in a simple homemade marinara sauce.

Ingredients: Print   Add to cart
US Metric

1 ½ lbs calamari, ¼-inch rings

1 TB butter

1 TB olive oil

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 small onion, chopped

½ small carrot, peeled, chopped

1 c. clam juice or

1(14 ounce) can crushed tomatoes

¼ c. Italian parsley, chopped

¼ c. white wine

½ tsp. salt

½ tsp. freshly ground black pepper

Garnish: chopped Italian parsley






Cooking Process:

In a large skillet over medium-high heat; saute garlic, onion and carrot in butter and oil 2-3 minutes. Add clam juice, tomatoes, parsley, wine, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Simmer 20 minutes. Stir in calamari; return to a boil. Simmer 10-12 minutes, until calamari is tender. For services: garnish with parsley. Serves 2-3.
