Hamburger Curry

We used to make this all the time....whenever we felt like eating curry, but didn't want to wait for curry stew...this recipe is very quick and easy and can be made in less than 30 minutes....take that Rachael Ray!

US Metric

1 Lb. Ground Beef
1/2 Block Butter
1/2 Onion
4 stalks Celery
1 package mixed vegetables
1 potato cooked, peeled and cubed (optional)
1 tablespoon salt
2-3 Tablespoons curry powder (to taste)
1/4 Cup Aloha shoyu
1 5 ounce can carnation evaporated milk

1/4 cup flour
1/2 cup water

Cooking Process:

melt butter in pot/saucepan, add finely chopped onions and celery and cook until onions are opaque.  Add ground beef and cook for 10 minutes or until browned. Cook potato in microwave for 4 minutes, peel and set aside. Add salt and curry powder to ground beef mixture and allow to cook for 5 minutes.  Add cream, mixed vegetables and shoyu and simmer for 10 minutes.  If you desire more sauce, add milk. 

Thicken Curry:
mix flour and water in a bowl stirring quickly to prevent lumps. Add more water if necessary to create a smooth, thick paste.  Add mixture one mixing spoon at a time and stir rapidly into curry.  Add enough mixture to reach desired thickness.

Use only half the salt and Soy sauce and after you finish the dish, you can add more.
