Onolicious Guava-Ribs

It seems that guava has become a go to item in a lot of restaurant recipes for ribs. This Onolicious Guava Ribs was shared with me by a friend who is a BBQ master !

10- 12 lbs. country-style pork ribs

1-inch ginger root, sliced

Water as needed


1 c. Aloha shoyu

1 c. catsup

½ c. oyster sauce

½ c. sugar

½ c. brown sugar

1 tsp. ginger, minced

2 cloves garlic, chopped

1 tsp. Chinese five spice

2 cans (12 oz.) frozen guava nectar concentrate, thawed

Cooking Process:

In a large saucepot over medium heat; cover ribs and ginger with water. Bring to boil. Reduce heat; simmer about 30 minutes or until pork is fork tender. Drain well in a large mixing bowl or Ziploc bag; combine marinade ingredients well. Add ribs, rub evenly to coat ribs. Refrigerate overnight or at least 3 hours. Grill over hot charcoal or oven broil in oven. Baste rubs as needed with marinade. Note: lime broiler pan with aluminum foil.  Serves 10-12.
