  • 2 bunches asparagus
  • salt
  • green onions
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds, to garnish (optional)


  • 2 inch piece ginger
  • 4 tablespoons Aloha shoyu
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 teaspoon wasabi, to taste
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

Cooking Process:


Trim and scrape ends of the asparagus. Cut each spear into 3 equal pieces, separating the tips from the stems.

Cook the stems in salted boiling water for 3-5 minutes or 7 minutes covered in the microwave or grilled for 5-7 minutes.

Peel & grate the ginger, add soy sauce, lemon juice and wasabi. Whisk well together, then whisk in the oil a little at a time. Taste and add more wasabi/oil if you like.

Thinly slice the spring onions on the diagonal and toss them into the dressing. Add the asparagus stems and turn gently to coat.
